Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Campus School of Carlow University will dedicate its new “Campus School Outdoor Classroom” on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 10 a.m.
The outdoor classroom, which is located in a garden area near the entrance to the Sisters of Mercy Convent, located off of Terrace Street, on the Carlow University campus, will be used to provide a different dimension to learning at the Campus School.
“Many of us remember the experience of putting potting soil and a seed in a Styrofoam cup then placing it on a window sill in the classroom and waiting to see if something grows,” said Michelle A. Peduto, executive director and head of The Campus School of Carlow University. “With our outdoor classroom, our students will be able to learn horticulture or environmental studies in a real life lab.”
The Campus School Outdoor Classroom and its new signage were made possible by generous donations of the Sisters of Mercy, the Shea Foundation, Mrs. Ruth Egler, and Carole Brown. The donors or their representatives – with the exception of Ms. Brown, who is unable to attend – will be in attendance at the dedication, along with Carlow University administration, and Campus School students.
Editor’s Note – The Campus School of Carlow University welcomes any members of the news media who might wish to cover the dedication of the outdoor classroom. Please contact Drew Wilson on his cell phone (412) 260-6807 to arrange convenient, free parking.
