Students reminded of Carlow’s available academic and mental health resources

University Communication to Students

Dear Students,

As we approach the long Memorial Day weekend, the Allegheny County Health Department continues to report declining numbers of COVID-19 contractions and hospitalizations. On May 24, the state of Pennsylvania will further relax pandemic restrictions to allow those vaccinated to move about and return to pre-pandemic activities. Important information for you to be aware of includes:

New This Week:

University Closed Monday

The University will be closed Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day. Offices will be closed, and no classes will be in session.

The CAA is Open for Tutoring and Academic Coaching!

The CAA is tutoring and coaching online! Students can make an appointment with a tutor or academic coach through our scheduling system’s video feature or work with a writing tutor through email. We are here to help! www.Carlow.mywconline.com, 412-578-6146, caa@carlow.edu

Help Needed – Submit a Care Report

At times everyone just needs some assistance. If you become concerned about yourself or others, please submit a report and let the Care Team know about needs, questions, or concerns. We are active throughout the year, including the summer session, and will make contact with you to help. You may also contact the Student Affairs office at 412-578-6293 or studentaffairs@carlow.edu

Student Self-Service Update

In June, the institution will be transitioning from WebAdvisor to Self-Service for registration and advising. A communication will go out to all constituents with a link to the new platform once the system is ready for use. Information and instructional videos will be posted on the Self-Service & Registration Resources page on Isadora Intranet.

Reminders:

Common Good Expectations Remain

At present, we ask that all coming to campus continue to demonstrate a commitment to the common good: wearing a mask, social distancing, washing hands, and cleaning common surfaces before and after use. We are evaluating both CDC and pending State of Pennsylvania updated guidelines and restrictions that are permitting more open access. When we make decisions to update expectations, we will communicate those directly and specifically to the community.

All-Student Distribution Notices Now on Isadora

With the Spring implementation of the new Isadora Intranet platform, we have been able to effectively split academic course support (Schoology) and general University information and resources (Isadora). Therefore, as of May 24, all notices for the all-student distribution list will be funneled through the Isadora announcement platform. The existing platform on Schoology will be dismantled as of Monday. Thank you for your understanding and support of this process.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Timothy P. Phillips, Ph.D.
Vice President of Student Affairs & Dean of Students
