New Name is St. Joseph Athletic and Fitness Center

Pittsburgh, Pa. –Carlow University will cut the ribbon on the newly renovated St. Joseph Athletic and Fitness Center, the former St. Joseph Hall, on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 5 p.m.  The St. Joseph Athletic and Fitness Center is located on the upper level of the Carlow campus.

Built in 1929, St. Joseph Hall was one of the most frequented buildings on campus, as it served generations of Carlow students in search of fitness activities like aerobics, yoga, and weight training, among other activities, as well as serving as the home court for Carlow Celtics’ volleyball and intramural basketball.

The renovations to the newly named St. Joseph Athletic and Fitness Center include:

• State-of-the-art Fitness Center

• Space for Carlow Celtics’ teams to workout

• New Aerobic and Yoga Studio

• Designated training areas and locker rooms for the athletic teams

• New energy efficient, heating and cooling upgrades

• Newly constructed elevator tower to all floors and Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades throughout the building.

This is an $8 million dollar project to totally renovate the 27,000-plus square foot building. Representatives from MacLachlan Cornelius and Filoni, the architects for the project, and Franjo Construction, the contractor, will be present, along with members of Carlow’s administration and athletic department.
