Remote work extended for nonessential staff until June 30

University Communication to Faculty, Staff, Campus School

Dear Carlow Community,

PA updates: Governor Wolf announced on March 17 that the pace of the state’s vaccination rollout is accelerating every day, and there is a thrust to vaccinate everyone in the 1A phase as soon as possible. There are now 1.3 million people in the state who have been vaccinated.

Additionally, Allegheny County Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen announced that same day that individuals aged 50-64 with existing 1A medical conditions are now eligible to receive the vaccine in the first phase. Visit the ACHD website for eligibility information.

As we applaud these advances to vaccinate our state, it remains critically important that we each continue to support the common good and remain vigilant in our interaction with others, always masking and engaging in safe social distancing and diligent handwashing. We will also mitigate spread by continuing to work within a remote work environment.

Remote work update: The University is extending its current remote work deadline for its employees through June 30, 2021. As previously announced, the University will give two-weeks’ notice before any type of campus return. It is imperative that we continue to reduce our density and exposure on campus at this point in time. While we recognize that employees may need to periodically come onto campus, only employees identified by their manager to work on campus (essential workers) should regularly, physically be on campus. This includes essential contractors.

Please note that supervisors and managers are currently reviewing positions to determine which positions may continue to be remote after June 30. We encourage you to direct questions on this matter directly to your supervisor or manager.

Employee parking update: All full- and part-time faculty and all full- and part-time staff who pay for parking will experience a continued suspension in their parking deduction through August 31, 2021. As a reminder, this is a temporary suspension, and there will be a future review by the Parking Task Force and Carlow’s leadership team to determine future parking rates and passes. You will receive an update on this prior to August.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our University, our students, and the common good.

Stay healthy and be well.

Sincerely,
The COVID-19 Re-Entry and Resiliency Implementation Team
