President’s Impact Report

2023 - 2024

Dear readers, esteemed colleagues, and friends of Carlow University,

I want to start by saying thank you. Thank you for showing up. I don’t just mean today, here, reading this. I mean thank you for showing up in the world, in your fields, and in our community.

It is because of the work we do as a collective that future generations will be able to thrive here in Western Pennsylvania.

Earlier this year I had the honor of seeing a glimpse of that future cross the stage at commencement - as I shook the hands of nearly 500 students setting off to make our community, our region, and our world a more just and merciful place. I saw hope in their eyes and inspiration in their walk. I could feel the difference - the difference between a college graduate and a Carlow graduate. It is that difference that I hope to share with you in this impact report.

It’s the difference between professionals concerned for themselves alone and those concerned for the common good. It’s the difference in employees trained only in technical skills, and in those also trained to be compassionate, responsible leaders - the kinds of leaders our region desperately needs as wemove into the future.

You can see it on campus, in our programs and partnerships, and in our support for marginalized communities. You can see it in our dedication to discovery and expression, and in our unwavering commitment to making a real-life impact in our own region, and all over the world. Carlow isn’t just providing education; we’re providing pathways to a brighter future for all.
