The Atkins Center for Ethics strives to bring ethical reflection to important social justice issues via teaching, community engagement and scholarship. 

The Center was founded with a generous endowment from Michele Atkins, a Carlow alum (1982) and former chair of the Carlow University board of trustees, along with her husband Pat Atkins.

The Atkins Center for Ethics at Carlow University sponsors an annual essay contest for high school students. Essay topics focus on an issue of ethical concern for our country and the world.
