University Communication to Faculty, Staff, Campus Laboratory School
Dear Carlow University Community,
As we conclude the week, we share with you that the Allegheny County Health Department is reminding us that pandemic dynamics are still volatile and warrant our vigilance, particularly during this Superbowl weekend. Below are several very important reminders.
Masking Reminder: The University has received reports of masks not being worn, being worn improperly, or being removed for extended periods of time in certain areas around campus. Please note that wearing a mask – and using it with a proper fit around the nose and mouth – is critical to prevention efficacy. And with new strains of COVID-19 creating the potential for a surge, these precautions remain critical.
Social Distancing, Cleaning Reminders: In addition to wearing masks, proper social distancing of 6 feet or more is expected on campus. Doing so increases the likelihood that spread will not occur. Care should be taken when standing in line waiting for meals on campus and while seated. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water and clean common surfaces before and after use. The combination of masks, social distancing, handwashing, and cleaning has been shown through research to effectively reduce the spread of the virus.
CU greeting: Carlow University draws us together through our outreach to and relationship with each other. While we have barriers that impede our efforts during this pandemic, we are not without options. Please take a moment to view a suggested approach from the Center of Mercy Heritage. CU!
Screening Reminder: Self screening among the internal community is critical to mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and supporting the common good. All faculty and staff (both essential on-campus workers and remote workers) must create an account and complete a daily self-screen through the web-based application Mediterranean Wellness. Please visit the “Screening Schedule” box on our website for complete instructions.
Stay updated: We encourage you to frequently visit the COVID-19 page on the University’s website for ongoing updates regarding re-entry and resiliency.
Stay healthy and be well.
Sincerely,
The COVID-19 Re-Entry and Resiliency Implementation Team
