Graduate student receives a $2,500 nursing scholarship

Carlow University student Amy Croushore won $2,500 through the TOGETHER WE CARE® Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program. The scholarship program is sponsored by MinuteClinic, the walk-in medical clinic inside CVS Pharmacy and Target stores, and Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc. Croushore is pursing Carlow’s Master of Science in Nursing – Family Across the Lifespan Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) program.

Now in its third year, TOGETHER WE CARE® has awarded $300,000, through nearly 100 scholarships to future nurse practitioners across the U.S. The scholarships help to cover the cost of tuition, books and academic fees for the upcoming academic year.

The program partners with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. and The Campaign for Nursing’s Future®, a multi-year, $50 million national initiative launched in 2002 to enhance the image of the nursing profession, recruit new nurses and help retain nurses currently in the profession.

“Nurse practitioners are an important part of the MinuteClinic model as we grow and open new clinics nationwide in 2016. As one of the nation’s largest employers of nurse practitioners, we support the education of men and women seeking advanced nursing degrees,” said Angela Patterson, chief nurse practitioner officer for MinuteClinic. “These dedicated professionals will play an essential role in helping to address the nation’s primary care shortage and make high quality, convenient and affordable health care services more accessible.”

The scholarship winners are in programs leading to licensure as an APRN with a family nurse practitioner specialty or other special interest in community or public health at a nationally accredited nurse practitioner master’s program. High academic performance and strong community involvement was considered when reviewing the applications.

CVS Pharmacy customers helped to raise money for the scholarships in 2016 by purchasing Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. products from CVS Pharmacy locations across the U.S. during a week in January. For each product purchased, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc. donated 10 cents toward the scholarship program, up to $100,000.
