The Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling at Carlow University is a three course sequence for clinicians seeking to increase their understanding of the field. Students are required to take: (a) PRC 738: Introduction to Substance Abuse Counseling, (b) PRC 739: Substance Abuse Counseling Theories and Interventions, and (c) PRC 743: Co-occurring Disorders: Counseling Clients with Substance Abuse and Psychiatric Disorders. It can be completed online and over the course of three semesters, allowing students to steep themselves in their learning over time.

The certificate is an excellent way for new and seasoned clinicians to build the foundation for competency in drug and alcohol counseling. The completion of the courses results in graduate credits that can either be transferred into a full educational program or account for required licensure CEUs.
