In this workshop, participants will explore the intersection of trauma informed practices with universally designed classroom supports and culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy. There are classroom practices and educator responses which can build community and strengthen relationships or cause further harm. Critical to this work is the research on belonging, focusing on skills rather than behavior, and using the power of language to engage students in supportive and affirming ways.
