This workshop will explore the mission, vision, and origins of Ujima, Inc: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community. We will together delve into the needs, realities, barriers, and complexities of Black survivors’ lived experiences with intersecting forms of violence (domestic violence, sexual violence, systemic violence). Furthermore, we will talk through several of the strategies that Ujima employs to center Black survivors in addition to how providers can foster culturally humble and trauma-informed engagement practices.
