Co-sponsored by the Social Justice Institutes & the Atkins Center for Ethics.
Over the last year, Critical Race Theory (CRT) has emerged as a political battleground within publicly funded education. Legislation targeting CRT directly or indirectly has been passed in Idaho, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Tennessee and similar legislation has been proposed in a number of other statehouses.
This panel will seek to make sense of this battle over CRT and public education, by investigating questions such as: What is CRT? What do advocates of CRT argue? Who opposes CRT and why? What effect might banning CRT have on academic freedom?
Panelists: Dr. Jason Méndez, Dr. Michael Quigley, Dr. Tammi McMillan
