In this workshop, participants will create an abstract three-dimensional sculpture that represents their state of mind through a process of self-reflection and the practice of subtractive sculpture. Participating artists will begin by blending the materials vermiculite and plaster to cast a solid block that will serve as their blank canvas. Utilizing different sculpture tools, artists will carve the flat planes of the block away, eventually losing the block completely to reveal their emotive form.
This workshop includes lunch and is free of charge to participants; however, please note that space is limited. An optional student-led tour of Carlow’s campus will be offered at 1:00 p.m.
