Event to Raise Awareness About Problem of Homeless Children in Allegheny County Will Happen on the Carlow Campus Green on Friday, October 20
Pittsburgh, Pa. – As part of Homeless Children’s Awareness Week (October 15 – 21), students and staff from The Campus School of Carlow University will stand up for children who can’t stand up for themselves on Friday, October 20, 2017, from 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The students and staff will stand in silence for 15 minutes on the campus green, located adjacent to their school’s entrance, and hold a drawing of the face of a homeless child in front of their own, which represents the 3,000 children identified by Allegheny County schools as homeless last year. This event is associated with the Homeless Children’s Education Fund’s (HCEF) “Stand Up for Homeless Children” performance art installation.
“These dedicated children and staff from The Campus School of Carlow University will stand up for the children in Pittsburgh who can’t stand up for themselves and raise awareness about the children and youth experiencing homelessness in Pittsburgh,” said Tawana Cook Purnell, the executive director of The Campus School.
The event will happen rain or shine.
