Day Long Conference on Friday, November 7, Prepares Undergraduates for Job or Internship Search

Pittsburgh, Pa. –Carlow University’s Office of Career Development – in partnership with the career centers at Duquesne University, California University of Pennsylvania,Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Saint Vincent College – will host a one-day College to Career Conference targeted at undergraduate college students on Friday, November 7, 2014, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, located on Forbes Avenue in Oakland.

“The goal of the conference is to better prepare students for their job or internship search, successful college to workplace transition, and career management,” said Erin Bridgen, MA, director of the Office of CareerDevelopment at Carlow. “We hope to grow the College to Career Conference into a much anticipated annual signature event.”

Conference session topics include:

• Resumes and Cover Letters
• PersonalBranding: Projecting a Professional Image
•Networking
• EffectiveInterviewing
•Internship and Job Search Strategies
• SalaryNegotiation
• DiningEtiquette

There is a $30 cash registration fee required by 4 p.m. onFriday, October 31, 2014.  All registrants for the conference are expected to dress professionally, arrive on time, and stay for the duration of the conference.

The National Venture Fund, through the Council ofIndependent Colleges (CIC), provided the initial funding for the project through a competitive grant process.  Corporate sponsors for the conference include UPMC, Fastenal, U.S. Steel, Mylan, PLS,Prudential, and Enterprise.
