Carlow University’s Community Scholars Program is devoted to providing these students with the resources they need to feel a true sense of belonging and realize their full potential.

Carlow Community Scholars provides holistic support for students and includes the areas of academic success, housing, finances and employment, physical and mental well being, and community engagement. These supports include weekly coaching meetings with the Community Scholars director and staff , access to needed material items, and referrals to campus and community resources.

Housing and Daily Living

  • Supplies for residence hall room or apartment, including food items, cleaning and laundry supplies, bedding, etc.
  • Gap housing for academic year and summer breaks
  • Assistance in finding campus employment

Academic Success

  • Backpacks and other school supplies
  • Technology lending program, including laptops
  • Guidance on time management, planning, and study strategies

Community Engagement

  • “Chill” space where students can hang out, study, and meet with staff
  • Programs and events throughout the semester
  • Connections with campus and community organizations

Moving On

• Support finding internships and study abroad opportunities
• Assistance with graduation costs
• Referrals to campus and community organizations that assist with career development

Admissions Process

  • Students will have a personal enrollment counselor.
  • Apply for free through the Common App (www.commonapp.org) or Bridge to Carlow (www.carlow.edu/apply)
  • Rolling Admissions
  • Criteria
  • Completed application
    • High school transcript
    • SAT/ACT/CLT scores (optional for most programs)
    • Essay/recommendations (optional)
    • Note: Certain academic programs have specific minimum GPA and/or test score requirements for admission.
    • College Decision Day: May 1
