Dr. Ruth Madden Foreman, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, CRNP, CNE, is an accomplished nurse practitioner, educator, and researcher who has dedicated her career to advancing nursing education, clinical practice, and research. A graduate of Columbia University, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Master of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing, focusing her work with the underserved and those with chronic disease. Her commitment to education is demonstrated through her work as a content expert, speaker, and certified nurse educator.
Dr. Foreman’s extensive clinical experience spans across telemedicine, pediatric care, primary care, and urgent care, enabling her to treat a diverse patient population, ranging from newborns to the elderly, with both acute and chronic conditions. Licensed in multiple states, including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Maryland, and New York, she currently practices at My Catholic Doctor, where she provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages. Additionally, she Directs the clinic at Carlow University’s Campus School, where she manages children’s health and precepts nurse practitioner students.
As an educator, Dr. Foreman has been a part of Carlow University’s faculty since 2018, where she serves as a tenured Associate Professor in Graduate Nursing. Her teaching expertise covers vital areas of advanced nursing practice, such as pharmacology, pathophysiology, primary care, pediatrics, and scholarship. She promotes a culture of continuous improvement, fostering an environment of excellence in student learning and development. Dr. Foreman is deeply involved in mentoring students, especially as they undertake their capstone projects, helping them apply evidence-based literature into clinical practice.
In addition to her contributions to nursing education, Dr. Foreman is an active researcher and scholar. Her research interests include pediatric anxiety, dermatology, health literacy, pharmacogenomics, obesity, and dementia. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and her work has been presented at national and international conferences. She also serves as a peer reviewer for several prestigious journals, including BMJ and The Journal for Nurse Practitioners, further highlighting her impact on the academic community. Her leadership in research extends to grant writing, where her efforts have secured funding for important educational and research initiatives, such as health literacy projects and studies on cytomegalovirus (CMV) among nurses.
Dr. Foreman’s professional service includes holding leadership positions in organizations like the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Through her multifaceted work in clinical practice, research, and education, Dr. Foreman continues to inspire her students and colleagues, helping to shape the future of healthcare.
