Richard Brzustowicz is Carlow University’s Instruction and Outreach Librarian. He is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College (BA, Philosophy) and Dominican University (MLIS). Richard’s areas of interest are the intersection of library resources and technology, information literacy, and information ethics. He supports learning on campus through reference and research services, helping students and faculty navigate the vast array of resources available to them.

Richard is devoted to enhancing the educational experience at Carlow University. He conducts workshops and seminars on information literacy, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills necessary to critically evaluate information sources. His work in information ethics involves guiding students and faculty on the responsible use of information, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity and the ethical implications of information use.

In addition to his instructional duties, Richard collaborates with faculty to integrate library resources into the curriculum, tailoring research guides and instructional materials to support specific courses and assignments. His commitment to outreach is evident in his efforts to make library services accessible to all members of the Carlow community, including organizing events and programs that promote the library as a hub of learning and collaboration.

Richard’s scholarship focuses on the evolving role of libraries in the digital age. He has presented at conferences and published articles on topics such as the impact of emerging technologies on library services and the role of libraries in fostering digital literacy. His research aims to explore innovative ways to leverage technology to enhance library services and support the academic mission of Carlow University.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Richard is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries. He is passionate about continuous learning and professional development, regularly attending workshops and conferences to stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in the field of library and information science.
