Mimi Loughead is the Southwest Apprenticeship Workforce Coordinator for the Dr. Rae Ann Hirsh Apprenticeship HUB for Early Childhood Education at Carlow University.  Mimi joined the Education Department as a member of the apprenticeship team and adjunct professor in June of 2021.  Her role is to recruit, enroll, onboard and support early childhood educators and their employers in pursuing their individual career and educational goals toward obtaining credit-bearing credentials and degrees in the apprenticeship program. Mimi coordinates the Early Childhood Education Professional Development Organization at PASSHE grant which funds the tuition, fees and books for apprenticeship students.  She facilitates regional efforts to increase early childhood apprenticeship programs in SW Pennsylvania. Mimi has over 30 years of experience working with early childhood educators, young children, and their families in a variety of roles; Innovative Learning Strategist at Trying Together, Early Childhood Coordinator and Preschool Teacher at DePaul School for Hearing and Speech, Independent Evaluator for the Alliance for Infants and Toddlers, Hearing Therapist for Midwestern Intermediate Unit and Kindergarten Teacher at the West Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. She enjoys sharing her passion for early language and literacy development with students in the apprenticeship program. Mimi lives In Oakmont with her husband and dog and enjoys reading, hiking, gardening and visiting her three adult children.
