Linda Burkett has continued throughout her nursing career with a demonstrated compassion for people.  Exemplifying the underpinnings of Carlow University and a mercy mission, she delights in helping others professionally and within their community for improving wellness and wellbeing.

Continuing her nursing education at Carlow University, she completed her MSN in Nursing Education & Leadership with a focus on self -care for nurses, advocating for nurse self -awareness and and peer appreciation. While completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, she taught as a Graduate Assistant in the RN-BSN Program. She found this niche to be significant to personally and professionally impart the import of embracing a BSN degree to give RNs the needed ‘voice at the table’ in healthcare for decision-making and prudent patient care. As a Certified MBTI Practitioner, Linda has continued to bring elements of personality type appreciation to students, faculty and other health professionals to enhance communication and teamwork.

This culminated in a successful doctoral project, and publication.  She continues to present these strategies to students and other health professionals to create resiliency through type understanding. As a commissioned  Faith Community Nurse, she is able to integrate the mercy and compassion foundations of Carlow University in establishing clinical rotations for FNP students to broaden their skills sets to meet the needs of the marginalized, under-served, and ill-served in multiple the urban and rural areas of Western PA. Being the Clinical Coordinator for the HRSA Grant IMPACT Project, she continues to build partnerships with healthcare networks, FQHCs, qualifying practices and providers for valuable student experiences in areas of demonstrated need. The shared goal is to graduate FNPs to practice in these areas with insight and prudence for respectful, comprehensive patient care.
