Tanya Baronti joined Carlow University’s Education Department in 2021, starting as a mentor for the Dr. Rae Ann Hirsh Apprenticeship Hub for Early Childhood Education. She later took on the role of clinical coordinator and is now the Director of Clinical Placements, supporting student teaching, field placements, and professional development in addition to teaching.
Tanya has a long career serving children and families through social services, education, and nonprofit work. Before joining the education team, she was the director of United for Children at the United Way of Southwestern PA and the Digital Media and Learning Project Manager at the Fred Rogers Center at Saint Vincent College, where she was instrumental in the development of a statewide professional development institute and a statewide library lending project in addition to being a frequently invited keynote speaker and presenter regionally and nationally. Tanya also was an academic advisor and taught psychology and early childhood education courses at the Community College of Allegheny County for many years.
Tanya’s educational background includes a B.A. and M.Ed. from the Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in early childhood education from the Erikson Institute in Chicago. She is pursuing an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health certificate from the Erikson Institute.
Tanya’s leadership roles include co-chairing the outreach committee and serving on the board for Jeremiah’s Place, the only crisis nursery in Pittsburgh. Previous service on the boards for the Gemini Children’s Theater, Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship, and The Change Machine at the Sprout Fund further demonstrate her commitment to education and social services. Her three adult children have always provided inspiration and passion for all her work. In her free time, Tanya enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, walking with her dogs, and attending performances, especially musical theater.
