Dear Carlow University Community,

Due to Governor Wolf’s new targeted mitigation measures to reduce the rapid spread of COVID-19, I thought it was important to write to you today.

Hospitals are rapidly approaching full capacity in their intensive care units and given the skyrocketing COVID-19 cases in Pennsylvania, our governor has instituted new targeted mitigation measures across the state. Among these measures is a mandate for telework. All businesses must designate that employees work in a remote environment – unless it is impossible.

Effective now, only employees identified as essential workers should physically be on campus. As a University, we are considered an essential place of business for purposes of continuity of learning. As we did in March with the onset of the pandemic, employees will continue to provide critical service to students as we are already doing. Accordingly, there will continue to be faculty and staff who need to regularly, or periodically, come onto campus.

All employees are encouraged to direct their questions on remote work status to their immediate supervisor.

NEW UPDATE: In light of the COVID-19 spikes, all in-person visits to Admissions will be conducted virtually until further notice.

REMINDER: All classes, with the exception of essential clinicals and labs, will meet virtually after the Thanksgiving break.

We will be providing further updates next week after the Thanksgiving break. Again, I thank you for your commitment and adaptability as we respond to the pandemic and attending to the Common Good. I wish you all a safe and blessed Thanksgiving – wherever your celebrations may occur.

Sincerely,

Suzanne K. Mellon, PhD
