University Communication to Faculty, Staff, Campus Laboratory School
Distributed: December 11, 2020
Dear Carlow University Community,
As we position ourselves with a renewed diligence and commitment to the common good by taking an active part in mitigating the devastating spread of COVID-19, we provide you with an update and two important reminders that will inform and support you during this resiliency phase of the pandemic.
UPDATE IN PA: On December 10, Governor Wolf announced new protective mitigation efforts to put Pennsylvania on pause through early January. This involves, but is not limited to, in-person dining, indoor and outdoor events, fitness centers, extracurricular school activities, and youth and collegiate sports (which may continue in accordance with CDC guidance and the Department of Health.) Please read the full announcement from Governor Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine. We implore you to support these critical measures in the interest of public health.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: All faculty and staff are required to create an account and complete a daily self-screen through the web-based application Mediterranean Wellness. Please visit the “Screening Schedule” on our website for complete instructions. You will need your employee ID to register, and the account takes 24 business hours to activate. Once activated, users will receive a daily email prompt to conduct a self-screening. Only employees coming to campus will be asked to show the GREEN risk screen to their supervisor (either physically or via a screen capture.)
REMINDER – PAID SICK TIME AND PROTECTED LEAVE: Carlow University will allow up to a maximum of 80 hours of additional paid time if applicable for COVID-19 related situations. The Request for Paid COVID-19 Leave form must be completed and submitted to Human Resources. If any governmental agency, in conjunction with the CDC, declares a pandemic in our counties of business that impacts our operation in another way and/or impacts the sick time benefits we offer, we will comply with the regulations as required.
In addition to these benefits, eligible employees diagnosed with COVID-19 can also request Short Term Disability (STD) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Please contact Human Resources for more details.
The University’s COVID-19 policy and COVID-19 paid leave request form are attached.
We will continue to monitor and communicate to you all breaking developments on the state and local level. Please continue to read your emails and visit our website for a complete listing of all University Communications and important material that pertains to our re-entry and resiliency.**
Be well.
Sincerely,
The COVID-19 Re-Entry and Resiliency Implementation Team
