Rachel Griffo, PhD is the Director of Grants and Special Projects. Dr. Griffo began her career teaching secondary English in Upstate, New York. Prior to pursuing her PhD and career in higher education, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer at a rural teacher’s college in Fuling, Chongqing, PRC. Her experience as a RPCV diversified her approach to teaching and inspired her research focus on Chinese-English translation studies and teaching English to diverse language users. Before coming to Carlow, Dr. Griffo taught English language and literacy, as well as first-year college writing and technical communication, full-time at the community college and served in various leadership roles. She has written grants for local nonprofits and small businesses and now writes and manages grants to support programs in the Education Department.
