Welcome week schedule shared with students ahead of the upcoming fall semester

Dear Students,

The highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant has been increasing positive cases across the nation, including in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Allegheny County continues to report low hospitalization numbers, though case numbers have been rising slightly. Vaccination continues to be the best prevention of contraction and spread of the virus.

New this week:

Welcome Week Fall 2021

Fall Welcome Week will be August 18-22. The full schedule is now posted here and we look forward to welcoming you back! We are excited to have all new and returning students back for the fall semester. Go Celtics!

Reminders:

Take part in Carlow’s COVID-19 Vaccination Survey!

To assist with fall planning efforts, we are asking students to voluntarily complete the COVID-19 Vaccination Survey. The purpose is to help Carlow understand, in aggregate form, what percentage of our overall community has chosen to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

This survey will not ask you to provide your name and is completely anonymous. Employees have also been asked to complete a similar survey. Information from this survey will be used to assess the need for health safety materials and services through the 2021-22 academic year. Thank you in advance for your response!

COVID-19 Information Updates

We continue to update and revise COVID-19 Response information on the Carlow website. You can find all the latest by visiting Carlow’s COVID-19 & You webpage.

Help Needed? Submit a Care Report

We all need assistance sometimes. If you become concerned about yourself or others, please submit a report and let the Care Team know about any needs, questions or concerns. We are active throughout the year, including the summer session, and will make contact with you to help. You may also contact the Student Affairs office at 412-578-6293 or studentaffairs@carlow.edu.

Self-Service is now live

Carlow has now officially transitioned from WebAdvisor to Self-Service for registration and advising. This means that functions used in WebAdvisor for registration or advising is now available in Self-Service. Students can see a button on the Self-Service menu, Student Planning, where they can access their schedule, register for classes, and see grades. Instructors can see a Faculty button to access their course rosters, and Advisors will see an Advising button to access their advising lists and advisee information.

Instructional videos and PDF instructions are posted on the Self-Service and Registration Resources page on Isadora to help you navigate the platform. The direct link to Self-Service was made available on the Quick Links menu on Isadora. With this link, you can go directly to Self-Service for any services you previously used in WebAdvisor with one exception. Employees of Carlow, including work study students, should still use WebAdvisor for time sheets and pay advices. If you have questions or need assistance, please email registrar@carlow.edu.

Masking Required in Campus Laboratory School and Early Learning Center

The Campus Laboratory School and the Early Learning Center continue to require masks in these facilities and playgrounds (ELC, Trinity Hall and Tiernan Hall). This holds true for all adults and children regardless of vaccination status. This policy reflects guidance recommendations from Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) and Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Have a great weekend and get ready for our August welcome!

Sincerely,

Timothy P. Phillips, PhD
Vice President of Student Affairs & Dean of Students
