University Communication to Students
Dear Students,
This week has seen COVID-19 positive cases and hospitalizations moderating to a manageable level, vaccine appointment availability high and announcements from Governor Wolf that restrictions will be further loosened May 31. Important information for you to be aware includes:
Complete Course Registration
Summer and Fall course registration remain open. The summer session begins next week, May 17 and runs through August 6. If you have not completed course registration, please do so soon. We will begin evaluating summer and fall courses that are under enrolled. If you are having difficulties, please reach out to your advisor, the Student HUB (412-578-6389), or Student Affairs (412-578-6293 or studentaffairs@carlow.edu) and we will be happy to assist.
Common Good Expectations Remain
At present, we ask that all coming to campus continue to demonstrate a commitment to the common good: wearing a mask, social distancing, washing hands and cleaning common surfaces before and after use. We are evaluating guidelines from the CDC and pending updated guidelines and restrictions from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that we anticipate will permit more open access. When we make decisions to update expectations, we will communicate those directly and specifically to the community.
Reminders:
Spring Textbook Rental Returns
The bookstore will be open Friday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You may also purchase and print a UPS label on carlow.bncollege.com. Select “Textbooks,” then go to “Textbook Rentals.” If you choose this method for returning your rental, there is a several-day grace period. Do not put textbooks in the library drop box at the front of the building. We will not be able to verify who is making the return.
Thursday Email Updates Will Continue
While we are evaluating how best to provide important information, I will continue to send Thursday email updates as we manage the pandemic environment so students at least know a place to begin for information. All COVID-19 related information can continue to be found on the website by clicking here.
This week has been a celebration of student success through the virtual commencement ceremony and celebration of graduation events. We will continue to keep you informed throughout the summer on plans for the fall semester as we return to a predominantly on-ground, in-person format.
Sincerely,
Timothy P. Phillips, PhD
Vice President of Student Affairs & Dean of Students
