With a wide support network, Pittsburgh Promise students have the opportunity to thrive personally and academically at Carlow University. Once enrolled at Carlow, you’ll join our Keeping the Promise group, a supportive, diverse community of classmates, mentors and friends. Your support network will also include a personal success coach who will help you transition to college life and access specialized tutoring, study groups, and stipends for internships.

  • Earn incentives (up to $200/year) for participating in coaching sessions and workshops

You will meet one-on-one with your success coach to explore your academic strengths and challenges, and create goals to achieve academic success. You may schedule sessions as often as you’d like.

During this time, develop valuable skills including:

  • Goal setting
  • Study and test-taking strategies that work for you
  • Time management and organization
  • Self-advocacy

Carlow offers additional University resources to further support you on your academic journey that you may be referred to by your success coach.

Earn up to $100 for attending 4 coaching sessions each academic year

Complete two 30-minute coaching sessions with your success coach each semester and earn a $50 check stipend, for up to $100 each academic year.

Our learning workshops are designed to help you improve your academic and personal skills. Offered weekly, online and in person, they cover a range of topics including:

  • Learning skills (reading, note-taking, test prep & time management techniques)
  • Financial Literacy (understanding credit scores, debt to income ratio, budgeting & saving)
  • Career Preparation (career planning, resume building, interview prep)
  • FAFSA Assistance (completing accurately & meeting deadlines)
  • Resiliency & mindfulness (managing stress, setting & keeping goals)

$100 gift card to the bookstore

Promise students receive a $100 gift card to use for textbooks at Carlow’s bookstore.

Continue your personal and professional development with a sponsored internship at one of our non-profit partners. Build your resume with competitive pay ($17/hour), work alongside a group of your peers, experience opportunities for mentorship and supervision, and access workshops and training.

Students who successfully complete 90 hours of internship experience also receive 2 free college credits in EXP 250.

Internships are open to first-year or sophomore Promise students enrolled full time at Carlow with less than 60 credits completed.
