Carlow Has Made the Honor Roll Every Year Since the Award’s Inception in 2006

Pittsburgh, Pa. –For the tenth consecutive year, Carlow University was named to the President’sHigher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

This award recognizes the community service efforts of Carlow students, faculty, and staff, who have demonstrated community service ona local, national, and global scale. Locally, every September, Carlow first year students, faculty, and staff spend Mercy Service Day working at non-profit organizations throughout AlleghenyCounty doing painting, weeding, cleaning, and other general maintenance activities that the regular staff of those organizations either can’t do or haven’t had the chance to do.

Throughout the year, there are various activities that benefit local service organizations, such as the annual Fashion for Kids’ Sake show that benefits Big Brother and Big Sisters of Allegheny County, or the Alternative Spring Break service trips that take place each year and help people throughout the country. Many of the activities also benefit people in foreign lands, such as textbook drives or clothing drives.
