Bartlett, a Fortune 25 Executive and Woodrow Wilson Fellow Will Be at Carlow November 9-12

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University will host Woodrow Wilson Fellow and Fortune 25 executive, Dede Bartlett for a discussion on “Ways to Empower Yourself for the Workplace” on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in room 107 of the A. J. Palumbo Hall of Science and Technology, located on the corner of Fifth and Craft avenues on the Carlow campus. Part of Bartlett’s talk will address the pay gap between men and women in the workplace.

This event, which is co-sponsored by the YWCA of Pittsburgh, is free and open to the public, but registration is required due to limited seating.  Please visit www.carlow.edu/PayGapRSVP to reserve a seat.

Bartlett is a former Fortune 25 executive, a Director of the American University of Central Asia Foundation and the Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence. As Vice President of Corporate Affairs Programs at Altria Group, she developed the company’s award-winning domestic violence prevention programs. She has been honored for her work in helping victims of domestic violence by the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Lifetime Television, The National Center for Victims of Crime, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline. She has been invited to many college campuses to speak on a variety of topics including, tips to navigate any workplace, how to survive career catastrophes, the power of networking and women and corporate leadership.

During her visit to Carlow, Bartlett will be the Executive in Residence for Carlow’s master of business administration (MBA) program, lecture during a number of undergraduate and graduate classes.  In addition to the “Empowering Yourself for the Workplace” discussion, she will also lead free, public events on Monday and Wednesday evenings.  Monday’s talk is titled “Women and Leadership,” and will include a panel discussion with top women executives.  This event is co-sponsored by the top, local accounting firm, Schneider Downs, and will take place at 6 p.m. in the Kresge Room, located on the fifth floor of Carlow’s University Commons.  Wednesday’s discussion – which will also take place in the Kresge Room, and is co-sponsored by Mercy Behavioral Health – is titled “Are You Safe? Helping Domestic Violence Victims Become Survivors,” will focus on domestic violence prevention. For more information about these events, go to www.carlow.edu.
