Men’s and Women’s Teams Play Conference Foe, Cincinnati Christian, While Raising Funds to Fight Cancer
Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Carlow University Celtics men’s and women’s basketball teams will take on KIAC-conference foe Cincinnati Christian University on Thursday, February 11, but the bigger opponent that evening will be breast cancer.
Carlow’s “Pink the Pavilion” basketball games have become an annual event, where money raised by T-shirt and ticket sales goes to a local non-profit that helps in the fight against breast cancer. The men’s game tips off at 6 p.m. and the women’s game at 8 p.m. Both games will be played in Oakland Catholic High School’s Donahue Pavilion.
This year’s beneficiary of the money raised by “Pink the Pavilion” will be the Glock Foundation, a local foundation that targets breast cancer through clinical trials, that was founded by Carlow alumna and breast cancer survivor, Carol Glock.
“Our mission is to raise funds to support breast cancer research, clinical trials, education and patient care within the Pittsburgh community,” said Glock, who was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer, called inflammatory breast cancer, in 2013. “I founded the Glock Foundation to raise funds and inform breast cancer patients how significant, and possibly life-saving, participating in a clinical trial can be upon their diagnosis.”
Please visit www.glockfoundation.org to learn more about the foundation and its work.
There is a Carlow University alumni tailgate gathering at 5 p.m. at Oakland Catholic High School. There will be food, games, and prizes. Halftime entertainment will be supplied by the Celtic Crescendos, an acapella singing group, and the Carlow cheerleaders. Alumni basketball players in attendance will be recognized throughout the games.
### Editor’s Note: Carlow University welcomes media coverage of this event. Please contact Drew Wilson on his cell phone to arrange parking.
