Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Audrey Russo Is the Keynote Speaker
15th Annual Conference Is April 22-23 in Carlow’s Tom Hopkins Communication Lab
Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University and its Tom Hopkins Communication Lab will host the 15th annual conference of the National Association of Communication Centers (NACC) on April 22 and 23, 2016.
Representatives from more than 35 institutions from across the country will be at Carlow to see the brand new state of the art Hopkins Communication Lab, which is unique in the region and particularly spotlights the theme of this year’s conference: “Transforming Centers: Bridging Learners, Technologies, and Pedagogies.”
Audrey Russo, the president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council (PTC), will be the keynote speaker for the NACC conference.
Russo has served the technology business sector for southwestern Pennsylvania as President and CEO of PTC since 2007. PTC is the oldest and largest technology trade association in North America. She has facilitated strong interaction across all business sectors of the regional economy, which she believes will only succeed and grow through technology innovation and commercialization. With a background in information technology, operations, and finance, Russo previously worked for large multi-national Fortune 500 companies, as well as at MAYA Design, and in an adjunct faculty and project role at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a past chair of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, and serves on numerous community boards. Russo earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Ohio State University, and earned her master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University.
“The NACC conference is a wonderful opportunity for colleagues from across the country to meet and share their research and experiences related to the management and operation of communication centers,” said Rachel Furman, director of the Tom Hopkins Lab at Carlow, and this year’s conference host.
The schedule will include panel presentations of prepared papers, working sessions for discussions between faculty, staff, and student consultants, and workshops for both new and experienced center staff.
“By focusing on transformation, in the context of learners, technologies, and pedagogies, discussions are opened, research is examined, and activities explored that are taking place in communication centers within these areas,” said Furman.
