Carlow University names Kimberley Hammer, Esq., as its new vice president of University Advancement.

Kimberley J. Hammer, Esq., Comes to Carlow from Robert MorrisUniversity
Pittsburgh, Pa. –Carlow University has named Kimberley J. Hammer, Esq., as its new vice president of University Advancement. Her first day at Carlow will be Monday, July 25, 2016.
“I am delighted that Kim will be joining Carlow’s senior administrative team, ” says Suzanne K. Mellon, PhD, president. “She is well known and respected inPittsburgh’s philanthropic community, and I know our university will benefit greatly from her expertise and leadership.”
Hammer comes to Carlow from Robert Morris University, where she was vice president for Development since 2011.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to be part of Carlow University and look forward to helping fulfill its mission of offering transformational educational opportunities for a diverse community of learners,” she says. “I am passionate about Carlow’s heritage and values of the Sisters of Mercy, who founded Carlow. I look forward to supporting Dr. Mellon and Carlow University in this important fundraising role.”
At Robert Morris, she oversaw the strategic planning of all aspects of fundraising and giving to the university, and – in conjunction with the fundraising staff – raised over $25 million in current gifts and pledge commitments. She also created a Professional Advisor Council to assist with planned giving outreach, and established a planned giving program that utilized comprehensive marketing efforts to communicate with all constituencies.
Prior to her position at Robert Morris, Hammer was director of development for the Pittsburgh Promise from 2009 until 2011, executive vice president for development at Children’s Hospital Foundation of Pittsburgh ofUPMC from 2007 until 2009, and held numerous fundraising positions with ThePittsburgh Foundation since 1994. Before that, she was an attorney at Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney for three years.
She earned her law degree from the University of CincinnatiCollege of Law, and her bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
A member of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh,Hammer is also active in the community as a member of the East Catholic SchoolAdvisory Council and the St. Maurice Church Welcoming Team and Children’sLiturgy.
