Moore Joins the Carlow Celtics After Coaching Penn State Beaver Since 2011

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Carlow University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Tim Moore has been selected as the new head coach of its women’s basketball program.

Moore has more than 30 years of experience in athletics and coaching, including his most recent position as the women’s basketball head coach at Penn State University Beaver, which he has held since 2011.

“Coach Moore will be a great fit for our University and our women’s basketball program,” Director of Athletics George Sliman said. “He has proven successful  at the collegiate level, not only in winning championships, but also in areas of recruitment and retention, which are key indicators of success in small college athletics.”

Moore coached Penn State Beaver to a USCAA National Championship in 2015 and was named the USCAA DII National Coach of the Year in 2016. His Nittany Lions were the PSUAC Champions for four straight seasons, from 2013-16.

He has coached seven USCAA All-Americans and a USCAA National Tournament MVP, as well as several PSUAC All-Conference players and All-Academic student-athletes.

“I am excited to begin this new journey in my coaching career,” Moore said. “After meeting with the players this past week, I could see the passion and desire  they possess to make Carlow a winning basketball program. As a coach, that is what you look for. I believe there is a great group of young ladies here that will buy in and that want to turn the program around.”

Moore, a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in special education, was an assistant coach with the Beaver women’s team for three seasons before taking over as the head coach.

He got his coaching start at Freedom Area High School with the boys’ basketball program in 2002. He also coached at Monaca High School from 2003-08, spending three seasons as the head coach of the girls’ JV team and two seasons as the head coach of the girls’ varsity team. His varsity team made WPIAL playoff appearances both seasons.
