Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University has named Shawn Kintner Butler as the Special Assistant to the President for Board and Governmental/Community Relations.
This is a new position which will work closely with the president on a wide variety of administrative and executive duties, special projects, and initiatives involving the President’s Office and its priorities, which includes promoting and supporting the mission and values of Carlow University; serving as Secretary to the Board of Trustees and its governance; functioning as representative for governmental relations and other key community relations; overseeing the administrative, operational, and financial affairs of the Office of the President; developing and coordinating special and high-priority projects and initiatives; managing communications for the Office of the President’s; and serving as a liaison to the Carlow University Board of Trustees.
“Shawn Kintner Butler comes to Carlow with a wealth of project management experience, community and board relations across the region and a strong allegiance to the mission and values of the University,” said Suzanne K. Mellon, PhD, president of Carlow University. “She is well prepared professionally to take on this role.”
Butler was most recently at The Pittsburgh Promise where she served as Director of Programs. She has founded a small business that provided event and project management services to the foundation and non-profit sector and was a Vice President at PNC Financial Services Corporation managing several administrative functions.
She is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and has completed significant graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business. She is a 2017 Fellow of the Pennsylvania Education Policy Fellowship Program, and serves on the board of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
