MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Carlow University women's soccer earned
fourth place in the 2019 River States Conference Preseason Coaches'
Poll with a total of 71 votes, the league announced Aug. 8.
The poll was conducted with voting from the 11 RSC women's
soccer head coaches, and coaches were not allowed to vote for their
The Celtics finished last season with a 9-8-1 overall, 6-2-1 RSC
record and ended up third place in the conference standings. The
Celtics hosted and won a quarterfinal game, 1-0, against Ohio
Christian University before falling, 1-0, to Asbury (Ky.)
University in the semifinals.
The Celtics return All-RSC Second Team players, forward Gabbie
Adams (SO/Carrboro, N.C.), defender Rachel Flory (SR/Huntington
Beach, Calif.) and goalkeeper Paige Schindehette (SO/Bethel Park,
Last season's RSC Coach of the Year Allen Duda is back at the
helm to lead the Celtics.
Duda recruited 10 freshmen to add to the depth and talent of his
roster this season.
Asbury earned the top spot with 91 total votes and five of the
11 first-place votes. The Eagles won the RSC Championship last year
posting a record of 10-8-2 overall and 6-2-1 RSC.
Indiana University East was picked second this preseason with 82
votes and four first-place votes. The Red Wolves had the best
overall record in the conference last year at 12-4-4 and made it to
the RSC finals last season.
Point Park University was chosen third in the poll coming off
its RSC regular-season title of 2018. The Pioneers were 11-8
overall, 7-2 RSC and earned 75 votes in the poll to round out the
Carlow women's soccer kicks off the 2019 season with its home
opener on Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. against Spring Arbor (Mich.)

The team plays at Highmark Stadium in Station Square, just
minutes from campus and home to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the
United Soccer League. Admission to all Carlow home games is free to
the general public.
