Women’s Tennis named 2019 ITA All-Academic Team

TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) named five Carlow University women's tennis players All-Academic Scholar Athletes, and the team earned All-Academic Team honors the association announced Thursday.

All-Academic teams boast a team GPA of 3.20 or higher. ITA scholar-athletes must meet the following criteria:

1)      be a varsity letter winner,

2)      have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year, and

3)      have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).

This year the ITA saw an increase in qualifying teams and scholar-athletes. All-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of scholar-athletes.

The following Carlow tennis athletes earned the recognition:

Emily Armstrong (SR/New Kensington, Pa.)

Ashleigh Bowser (FR/Kittanning, Pa.)

Justina Jacquillard (SR/Scottdale, Pa.)

Julianna Mamajek (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Rebecca Walker (SR/Kittanning, Pa.)

As the governing body of college tennis, the ITA oversees men's and women's varsity tennis at NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College divisions. The ITA administers a comprehensive awards and rankings program for men's and women's varsity players, coaches and teams in all divisions, providing recognition for their accomplishments on and off the court.
