Miller brings home first place in triple jump at RSC Indoor Track & Field Championships

TIFFIN, Ohio --- Several Carlow University track and field athletes are bringing home hardware after competing in the River States Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet Friday.

Sophomore Olivia Miller (Bolivar, Pa.) brought home first place in triple jump with a distance of 10.21 meters. She also scored points for Carlow in high jump, placing fifth, and in long jump where she placed sixth.

(SO/Dayton, Pa.) placed second in the 1,000 with a time of 3:06.55, narrowly missing the NAIA “B” qualifying standard.

The Carlow women’s 4x800 team finished with a time of 10:43.17, which earned them third place on the podium.

Senior Gabrielle Kluger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished 11 of 18 in the 400 with a personal best time of 1:07.19.

Carlow’s women’s team also scored points in the mile, 3000, 4x400 and 4000 distance medley relay. The team finished sixth of nine teams with a total score of 39.5.

The Point Park University women’s team earned first place overall with a total score of 158.

On the men’s side, freshman Ethan Stroebel (New Castle, Pa.) nabbed second place in the 1000 with a personal best time of 2:42.44.

Javondii Myers (JR/Columbia, S.C.) took third place in high jump with a height of 1.85 meters. He also scored points in long jump and triple jump, where he finished eighth and seventh respectively.

Justin Molitoris (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) ran a personal best 57.07 in the 400 where he placed 15th and Zachary Byczynski threw a personal best 9.07 meters in the shot put, where he placed 19th of 23.

Carlow’s men’s team also scored points in the 4x800, 4x400 and 4000 distance medley relay. The team finished seventh of eight teams with a total score of 26.

The Point Park University men’s team earned first place overall with a team score of 156.

For the Celtics who barely missed NAIA qualifying standards, there are still two more meets left in the indoor season to hit their marks.

Carlow next travels to the Kent State Tune Up Feb. 16.
