During the last year of the doctoral program in counseling psychology students participate in a year long, full-time (or two year, part-time), 2000 hour internship. The pre-doctoral internship affords students the opportunity to employ the knowledge and skills acquired during their doctoral studies under the supervision of seasoned practitioners of psychology. With approval from their advisor and the director of training for the PsyD program in Counseling Psychology, students apply for internship following successful completion of necessary course work and comprehensive examinations. Students will have the option of securing a program-approved internship site on their own or of participating in the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) match program. More information about the APPIC match program can be found at www.appic.org. 3 credits
