You are invited to attend the 4th Annual Academic Convocation - marking the "official" beginning of the academic year.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Bill Schweers, whose address, "Think Small," will be framed around this year's common reader, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
Classes have been cancelled from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for faculty and students to attend the day’s events.
The 88th Annual Mass of the Holy Spirit will begin at 10:00 a.m. in St. Agnes Center, presided over by Fr. Adam Verona.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the procession to St. Agnes beginning at 9:45 on the Green.
The Convocation will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Heyl Theatre in Antonian Hall.
A bagpipe-led procession will make its way from Frances Warde Hall leading faculty, along with the President’s Cabinet into the Theater. The program will be approximately one hour.
Following the Convocation, there will be a panel discussion and question and answer session, given by faculty, previewing our monthly panels related to themes from The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. A dessert reception will follow in the lobby.
Students, faculty, and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend.
