  1. Biography
  2. Research Interests
Dr. Crossen specializes in the study of the problem of suffering and the field of hermeneutics. Hermeneutics is the science of interpretation (how do we search a text, a work of art, or our own experience, for truth and meaning).  She approaches all of her work from a feminist perspective. Her favorite class to teach is TH101 “Religion and Human Experience.” In that course she explores “threshold moments” that deepen the human experience, and the dynamic, exciting relationship between religion and science. One of the most valuable sources of her own continuing education is the questions that students, especially those with no religious background, raise in class. She approaches these with great respect and openness to how such questions challenge religion and how religion can challenge these questions.
Professional Interests: Religion and myth; women in the church; sacramental theology; and hermeneutics.
