Carlow edged by St. Mary-of-the-Woods at USCAA tournament

The Carlow softball team fell, 1-0, to No. 2 St. Mary-of-the-Woods in the quarterfinals of the USCAA Small College World Series, on Tuesday, May 15.

The No. 3 Celtics now enter the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament, where they will face the winner of tonight’s contest between No. 5 PSU Brandywine and No. 9 RMU Springfield, at 10am tomorrow, in DuBois, Pa., at Heindl Field.

Carlow earned four hits to the SMWC's two, but also made two costly fielding errors.

The Pomeroys scored their one run, which was unearned, in the bottom of the second inning.

Abby Tatgenhorst (SO/Byesville, Ohio) and Annamarie Osiecki (FR/Erie, Pa.) each went 1-for-2 for Carlow.

Abby Stroud (SO/New Egypt, N.J.) took the loss in the circle, walking none and striking out two.
