The Carlow softball team wrapped up its week at Space Coast Spring Training, in Titusville, Fla., with a 10-2 win against College of Saint Joseph (Vt.) on Thursday, March 8.

Abby Stroud (SO/New Egypt, N.J.) earned her third straight win in the circle. She allowed one unearned run on two hits with one walk and one strike out in three innings of work. Nicole Hall (SR/Jeannette, Pa.) pitched the last two innings of the mercy rule-shortened contest, allowing one unearned run on two hits.

Adrianna Gottheld (FR/Charleroi, Pa.) and Alysa Fairman (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Carlow (4-5/0-0/3-2). Fairman also added an RBI.

The Celtics scored two runs in the first on singles by Gottheld and Kelsey Geyer (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) and RBIs by Stroud and Tristan Voss (FR/Enon Valley, Pa.).

They added two more in the second thanks to two errors by Saint Joseph and singles by Kasey Wolford (FR/Lower Burrell, Pa.) and Fairman.

Three more CSJ miscues in the third inning allowed Carlow to really break open the contest. Another single by Stroud, a sacrifice fly by Abby Tatgenhorst (SO/Byesville, Ohio) and a 2-RBI double by Samantha Wampler (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa., pictured above) fueled a four-run frame.

Carlow got two more runs in the top of the fifth when Caitlyn Suter (SO/Monaca, Pa.) led off with a base hit up the middle, Fairman had an RBI single, and the Fighting Saints made two more errors.

Voss ended the game with a triple play at first base. Two Carlow errors put runners on first and second with no outs. But on the next batter, Voss caught a line drive, picked off the runner on first, and fired a quick throw to second where short stop Lexie Young (FR/Leechburg, Pa.) tagged out the last runner.

The Celtics return to Pittsburgh and begin their home season March 16, against Waynesburg University.
