Web and Cloud Services Applications Analyst

Description:

Carlow University invites applications for the position of Web and Cloud Services Applications Analyst.  This position is responsible for providing development, technical support and integration for all administrative applications that are internet and/or browser based services of the University.  This includes intranet, technical services for external websites, and internet-based applications.

An Applications Analyst is often also known as a developer, programmer, or systems analyst.  Serving the University through the Enterprise Applications department of the Information Technology Division, this position requires efficiency and creativity to interpret business needs into viable solutions using a variety of tools.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate software applications which serve intranet needs, ensuring usability of portal and developing creative solutions to enhance business operations.
  • Support the architecture of the external www website and intranet portal
  • Serve as a resource for University Communications in engaging social media and other internet communications mediums.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for applications that are internet based.  This includes project support, basic usage training and customization development.
  • Implement and support internet-based administrative software within the Universities' Application EcoSystem
  • Develop and/or support browser-based services are useable on a variety of devices, such as Windows, Apple, and Mobile platforms.
  • Build data integrations across the array of enterprise applications and software to keep information current in the variety of databases
  • Research, analyze and propose solutions of internet-based services to improve business processes and functions
  • Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Carlow University and the Sisters of Mercy.

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in design and development in internet-based technologies, specifically Microsoft .NET framework and MS SqlServer

Preferred Experience:

  • Support of Ektron Content Management System at an infrastructure level (MS Sql Server)

Qualifications:

  • Required: An Associate's Degree in a technology-related field such as Computer Science, Information Science, Business Management or comparative work experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field.
  • Required:  3+ years of experience in development and design using a combination of  HTML, DHTML, XML, Microsoft .NET framework with a focus on ASP.net,  JavaScript (client and server), Visual Studio (or similar), and Cascading Style Sheets.
  • Preferred: Sharepoint support and development experience
  • Preferred: CRM support experience, such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 
  • Preferred: Technical support of Content Management Systems, such as Ektron and Drupal/open-source
  • Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Required: Ability to relate and communicate in a positive way to the many constituencies of the University.

Performance Metrics, per fiscal year

  1. One successful upgrade of an in-use browser-based application
  2. Development of three forms or other business process improvements through the use of browser/internet/intranet-based services
  3. Implementation of one creative technological tool or service to aid in the marketing or communication of the University.

Work schedule

While this position is generally a Monday-Friday full-time responsibility at the Oakland campus, flexibility options exist that would enable an optimal and productive environment which meets the needs of both the incumbent and Carlow University. Night/weekend work will be required during critical periods such as system upgrades and service outage resolution.
